Reviewing the recipes that I was uploading to the blog I realized that I had no taco recipe and no no no gentlemen, I only have a taco dough recipe but I never fully explained how to make Mexican tacos from start to finish! This cannot be this way and in addition to asking for your forgiveness here I am, ready to pay off this unforgivable debt.

Well, wait, we beat around the bush. Let’s go back to the tacos topic: And yes, how could it not be our favorite if it is the most versatile recipe in the world!  Put very simply, like fajitas and burritos, tacos are a tortilla in which we put things inside. The difference between these dishes is that wheat tortillas are used in the first two, and corn tortillas are usually used for the tacos. They are also usually smaller.

In Argentina, we usually use rapiditas-type dough, it is our variant . The taco dough is made with wheat flour and if you enter the recipe you will also find my secret for when I do not have time or desire to make the dough. Secretazo huh! So do not be spreading it out there that everything rots.

How to make tacos

Fillings for Mexican tacos

As we well know, Mexican tacos can have different fillings: We can make meat tacos, chicken tacos, vegetarians, whatever! Everything looks good inside a taco. We are going to review some of the most traditional taco recipes prepared in Mexico, and why not some alternatives to innovate at home.

Meat tacos

Ingredients for 10 beef tacos

  • 250 grams of meat: it can be peceto, buttock, whichever you like the most
  • 1 medium red onion
  • 2 cloves of garlic
  • 1 fresh chili (optional)
  • 1/2 red bell pepper or bell pepper
  • 1/2 green pepper or bell pepper
  • Juice of 1 lime or lemon
  • 1 medium tomato
  • Oregano
  • Dried chili (to taste)
  • Salt and pepper
  • Cilantro
  • Neutral oil

How to make beef tacos

  1. Cut the bell peppers and the onion into julienne strips, the garlic and the very small chili and the tomato into cubes. Book separately.
  2. Cut the meat into strips and season in a bowl, add half the lime or lemon juice and leave to marinate for about 20 minutes.

    If you want, in this step you can do the magic you like to flavor the meat: add mustard, a splash of beer … Whatever you want. The idea is that the meat tacos are very tasty so anything goes. 
  3. Put a splash of oil, the dried chili pepper and the oregano in a frying pan and heat for 2 or 3 minutes. Add the garlic and chili and fry for a few more minutes.
  4. Add the meat and sauté. After 5 minutes, halfway through cooking, add the tomato and finish cooking.
  5. On the other hand, sauté the rest of the vegetables until they are cooked but BEWARE: they are firm.
  6. Mix the two preparations and rectify with salt and pepper if necessary. We add the rest of the lime or lemon juice and the stripped coriander.

Chicken tacos

Ingredients (10 chicken tacos)

  • 2 chicken breasts
  • 4 cloves of garlic
  • Juice of 1 lime or lemon
  • A little parsley
  • 1 green onion
  • 1 tbsp cumin
  • Dry chili, to taste
  • Olive oil
  • Salt and pepper

How to make chicken tacos

  1. Cut the breast into strips and marinate for a little while together with the lime juice, the minced garlic, the dried chili, and the salt and pepper.
  2. Heat the pan and put a drizzle of olive oil next to the cumin.
  3. Add the chicken and brown. Add the green onion and adjust the flavors. When you’re ready to book!
    If you want to put a spoonful of cream cheese, or grated cheese or whatever, it looks great with this recipe for chicken tacos.

Vegetarian tacos

When it comes to making vegetarian tacos, I don’t follow a recipe, I like to sauté the vegetables that I have at home. Sometimes I add mushrooms, or tofu … Everything! Another thing I like to do is sauté the different vegetables separately, so not all tacos are the same and each one adds what they want.

Taco sauces

I wouldn’t give you a complete taco recipe if I didn’t tell you how to make the taco sauces.

Well, for the guacamole sauce they already have all the data. Now I tell you the two classic Mexican sauces. There are a million more, if you want a post of sauces, let me know in the comments, yes?

Let’s go with the green sauce and the red sauce.

Red sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 large tomato or 2 small ones
  • 1/2 red bell pepper or bell pepper
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1 cda de chile chipotle
  • Salt and pepper
  • Olive oil

Procedure

  1. Cut the vegetables and put in a roasting pan and in the oven together with the chili, salt, pepper and a drizzle of olive oil.
  2. When they are, put in the blender and grind until you have a homogeneous mixture.

Ready !! Very easy, did you see?

Green sauce

Ingredients

  • 3 green chilies
  • 1/2 bell pepper or green pepper
  • 1 chile jalapeño
  • 5 green tomatoes
  • Cilantro
  • 1/2 onion
  • Shall

Procedure

  1. Put the pepper, onion, chili and tomatoes in a pan with a little olive oil and cover. When they are cooked let them cool.
  2. Put them in a blender and add salt and coriander to taste. Blend until you get a homogeneous mass.
