Carved wood furniture, elements and products of wooden decor and facade details, carving

A wooden furniture is a classic option that cannot be compared with the most modern materials, plastics, and polymers, with their ability to imitate any surface. But a solid wooden cabinet becomes more elegant and original if it is decorated with carvings.

It is the carving that allows you to make the interior exclusive. Any piece of furniture made by the hands of a master is considered to be the author’s, and as a result, the whole interior turns out to be such.

Carved furniture in the kitchen

Carved furniture in an apartment or in a house in the kitchen is rarely placed. As a rule, she finds a place for herself in the living room, study, bedroom. In this case, carvings decorate the backs of beds, armchairs, and chairs, details of tables and cabinets, small decorative interior items are especially popular: whatnots, jardinieres, various shelves, and so on. And in private houses, carved furniture and details of such decor adorn verandas and summer houses.

Kinds

We have been engaged in carving since the times of Ancient Russia. For centuries, basic techniques have been formed, a classification has developed.

The following types of carving are used for decorating kitchen facades:

In the manufacture of decorative details, all types of carving are used. Sometimes, for decorating the interior, they take products made using the technique of sculptural carving.

Modern workshops that now produce such furniture do it on machine tools.

Most decorative elements are used for cabinet doors, drawer fronts. For kitchen cabinets, including sets, the technique of laid-on and blind threads is used. And corner posts are often made using sculptural carving techniques.

In the technique of openwork carving, the backs of chairs and armchairs, wall shelves, and walls of open shelving are made.

It is not customary to decorate countertops with carvings, but large kitchens can have large tables decorated with wood-on-wood mosaics, which look incredibly stylish and unusual.

How to decorate

When using carved elements in the kitchen, you need to follow some rules:

  • all carved details must be made from the same type of wood;
  • do not use more than two types of thread;
  • mirror panels should be installed on the back walls of cabinets decorated with wood carvings, they increase the illumination of the room and thus shift the focus to decorative details;
  • in the upper cabinets, the doors are replaced with glass or decorative grilles made of MDF false panels;
  • the exclusivity of the furniture will be emphasized by the combination of carving, stained glass and glass with a pattern, moreover, this technique visually enlarges the room;
  • to decorate the walls, you can use paintings and photographs in carved frames or wooden molding frames.

You can decorate the kitchen with carvings without installing furniture with carved details.

Carvings are decorated with cornices, two or three shelves, possibly a crockery, picture frames. Carved bread bins, vases are placed in a conspicuous place, two or three small carved shelves are hung, a carved lampshade for a chandelier is also possible, figures carved from wood, which can be placed in different places.

On the windowsill you can make an interesting carved bench-stand for flowers.

If there is carved furniture in the kitchen, then you should think about whether small carved objects will overload the interior?

How to care

Such furniture in the kitchen is not easy to keep clean. This requires not only special knowledge, but also a lot of time and effort.

The first step is to determine what kind of cleaning fluid to use if water and a rag are ineffective: to do this, wipe a small piece of wood in an inconspicuous corner, let the surface dry and look for a reaction. But it is worth using chemistry only in exceptional cases, for example, to clean greasy stains on spice shelves.

It is very important to wipe all surfaces with a damp cloth as often as possible, do not allow dust to penetrate into the pores of the wood, this makes it lose its decorative effect, but in order to clean the carved surfaces, it takes time and patience, so sometimes you can use soft dust brushes.

Lacquered facades should be wiped with a special agent to keep the surfaces shiny. The countertop requires special care. It should not be put hot on it, the spilled liquid must be immediately removed, do not leave products on the surface, the smell of which can absorb the tree.
